Basement finishing permits in Lehi

Lehi City, not this company, decides what a basement finishing in Lehi permit requires. The notes below are taken from the city's building department page and its residential basement finish checklist. If the city updates those pages, their copy wins.

The building department says all permit applications go through the Building Permit Submittal Portal, and that plans are submitted electronically. The residential basement finish checklist asks for one complete set of plans, a floor plan with dimensions and window locations and sizes, the electrical, plumbing, and mechanical plans, an engineering packet if necessary, a gas piping diagram if gas is involved, and a completed application with the contractor license number and signature.

For inspections, the city says to allow 24 hours' notice and to call the Building Inspection Office at 385-201-1035. That is Lehi's inspection line. The city says inspections are not scheduled by voicemail, email, or online. Our shop number is (385) 421-9864, and those two numbers are not interchangeable.

A basement finish checklist is not approval to create an apartment or a second kitchen. Lehi homeowners who want a basement apartment should confirm that use with the city before we price cabinets. We have finished a raw basement into a separate apartment for a client. We do not assume the next house is allowed to do the same thing. Basement finishing in Holladay, basement finishing in Salt Lake City, and basement finishing in Park City each follow that city's own packet, not Lehi's.

Permit fees follow the city's valuation schedule. This page does not reprint that fee table, because a misread cell would be a fake number. Use the schedule the city posts. Our planning rates for the construction itself are separate: the quote tool prices a basement finish at $52, $90, and $143 per square foot for Good, Better, and Best.
